BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 4. Speaker of the Supreme Council (Parliament) of Kyrgyzstan, Nurlanbek Shakiev, invited companies from the US to get acquainted with the investment, export, and tourism opportunities in Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports with reference to Kyrgyz Parliament.
The issue was discussed following the meeting between the US Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Lesslie Viguerie, and the Speaker of Kyrgyz Parliament on March 3.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed issues on building up political and economic relations between the two countries and exchanged views on aspects of expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation.
“The development of relations between the Supreme Council and the US Congress, which have weakened due to the pandemic in recent years, is of particular importance. Therefore, as a first step, we would like to create a “Group of Friends of Kyrgyzstan” under the US Congress within the frame of the activities of the Partnership for Democracy Commission,” the speaker said.
He also added that it is necessary to organize the bilateral visits of the parliament delegations and cooperative work in that direction.
“In this regard, we need to cooperate closely in the attraction of investments by organizing a Kyrgyz-American business forum,” Shakiev added.
In turn, the US Ambassador noted that the creative, digital, and green economy is a priority for the cooperation between the countries.
Furthermore, Viguerie added that the maximum period for obtaining a US visa (the period for consideration of an application) for Kyrgyz citizens had recently been reduced from two years to 60 days.
