BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 13. The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan sold $35 million in the foreign exchange market on March 13, Trend reports with reference to the bank.
This is the fifth currency intervention conducted by the bank since the beginning of 2023. In total, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has sold $262.17 million in the foreign exchange market since the beginning of 2023.
During the preceding intervention carried out on February 15, the bank sold $35.6 million.
According to the regulator, the bank sold $40.2 million in the foreign exchange market at the third intervention on February 13.
The second intervention took place on February 6, the bank sold $47.1 million during that one.
Notably, the first intervention of Kyrgyzstan's National Bank in 2023 was carried out on January 10, during which the bank sold $104.2 million in the foreign exchange market.
Meanwhile, the bank carried out intervention in the foreign exchange market 15 times in 2022. During 8 of them, an amount of foreign currency worth $486.5 million was sold, and 7 interventions were for the purchase of $190.74 million.
During the largest intervention of the year on December 20, 2022, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan sold $87.5 million.
