BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. Import of electricity to Kyrgyzstan from Turkmenistan has resumed in February 2023, Trend reports via the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

Turkmenistan did not supply electricity to Kyrgyzstan in January 2023, while an amount of 62.5 million kWh of electricity was exported to Kyrgyzstan by Turkmenistan in February 2023, the statistics said.

The value of the import amounted to 161.5 million soms ($1.8 million), with 2.6 soms ($0.02) for a kWh.

At the same time, Kyrgyzstan’s import of electricity from Kazakhstan from January through February 2023 increased by 2 percent year-on-year, reaching 224.5 million kWh, with 138.6 million kWh in January and 85.9 million kWh in February this year.

In total, Kyrgyzstan imported 286.5 million kWh of electricity from January through February 2023, which is 1.5 times less than in the corresponding period of 2022 (447.6 million kWh).

Overall, Kyrgyzstan imported 2.8 billion kWh of electricity in 2022, which is an increase of 62 percent compared to the indicators of 2021 (1.6 billion kWh).

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan exported 457 million kWh of electricity in 2022, which is a decrease of 17 percent over 2021 (547 million kWh).
