Kyrgyzstan's gross international reserves surpass $2bln

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 13. Kyrgyzstan's gross international reserves reached $2.4 billion as of May 2023, Trend reports.

Over the past month, gross international reserves in the country increased by $70.02 million, the National Bank's latest data shows.

However, compared to May 2022, this volume decreased by $179.09 million, and since the beginning of the year, this figure has decreased by $389.88 million. The highest level of reserves was recorded in September 2021, amounting to $3.2 billion.

The National Bank utilizes these reserves to smooth out sharp fluctuations in the currency market. Since the beginning of the year, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has conducted nine interventions, selling dollars totaling $502.5 million.
