BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 24. Export of goods from Kyrgyzstan through the Russian Wildberries online platform has grown fourfold in the first four months of the current year compared to the total figures of 2022, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, said during E-COMKG 2023 International Forum in Kyrgyzstan’s Bishkek, Trend reports.
Japarov specified that the export through Wildberries in just four months of 2023 reached 1.2 billion rubles ($14.1 million), while the entire export for the year 2022 amounted to 509 million rubles ($6 million).
Moreover, the chairman touched upon the overall revenue generated by e-commerce in Kyrgyzstan. According to him, in 2021, the country's e-commerce sector recorded a total revenue of $490 million.
Although the exact revenue of another trading platform, Ozon, was not disclosed, Japarov said that since December 2022, Ozon has seen a sixfold increase in its sales performance.
Additionally, during the E-COMKG 2023 forum the founder of Wildberries, Tatyana Bakalchuk announced that the online platform plans to invest approximately 8 billion rubles ($94.6 million) in the construction of a logistics center in Kyrgyzstan next year.
The press service of Wildberries previously told Trend that the online platform is actively promoting partnerships with small businesses in CIS countries. This strategic initiative aims to provide opportunities for local entrepreneurs to penetrate the online market, introduce their brands, and facilitate the sale of their products across all the countries where Wildberries operates.
