BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 28. Kyrgyzstan recorded growth in milk and egg production from January through June 2023, with milk production increasing by 2.1 percent and egg production by 15.5 percent year-on-year, Trend reports.

The rise in production is attributed to the expansion of livestock and poultry populations by the National Statistical Committee.

Notably, the Chuy region played a vital role in livestock production. Over the six months, the region produced 210,300 tons of milk and 229.9 million chicken eggs, accounting for 65 percent of the country's total egg production.

Despite overall growth in the livestock sector, the regions of Bishkek, Osh, and Jalal-Abad registered a decline in all aspects of livestock production. Additionally, egg production in the Issyk-Kul region saw a decrease of 9.8 percent.

Meanwhile, the value of agricultural production in Kyrgyzstan, including food items, beverages, and tobacco products, grew by 7.56 percent during the first half of 2023, from 24.3 billion soms ($246.5 million) to 31.1 billion soms ($353.9 million).

The volume of agricultural production in Kyrgyzstan from January through June 2023 rose by 28.2% compared to the same period in the previous year.
