EBRD revises project portfolio in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 16. The current loan portfolio of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 177 million euros, as of July 31, Trend reports.

According to the EBRD, this money is allocated for 80 active projects.

According to data from the bank, this portfolio's sustainable infrastructure receives the vast majority of funding (72%, or 127 million euros), while industry, commerce, and agriculture each receive 15%, or 27 million euros. Financial institutions will receive 23 million euros, or the remaining 13 percent.

As of July 31, 2023, the bank estimates that the cumulative EBRD investment in Kyrgyzstan was 887 million euros for 219 projects.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) contributed 41 million euros in Kyrgyzstan in 2022, the country's biggest funding amount since the EBRD gave it 46 million euros in 2019.

The EBRD has been engaged in cooperation with Kyrgyzstan since 1992. The bank's efforts in the country are centered around promoting sustainable growth, supporting the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), enhancing the sustainability of public utilities, and strengthening the financial sector.
