Exports of aluminum from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan surge in 1H2023

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 17. Kyrgyzstan's exports of aluminum and its products to Uzbekistan from January through June 2023 increased 7.7 times year-on-year, the Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, Daniyar Amangeldiyev, said in Trend reports.

According to him, Kyrgyzstan’s exports to Uzbekistan increased in the following categories:

Exports of agricultural products: dairy products increased by 2.5 times, corn by 2.3 times, nuts by 1.4 times, and baked goods by 1.4 times;

Aluminum and its products—an increase of 7.7 times;

Plastic products: an increase of 5.1 times;

Passenger cars and their parts—an increase of 2.3 times;

Coal products—an increase of 1.9 times;

Ferrous metals and their products: an increase of 1.2 times;

Other chemical products: an increase of 1.2 times;

Various machinery, equipment, and mechanical devices—an increase of 1.5 times

The Minister emphasized that Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will provide maximum support for the opening of trading houses in Bishkek and Tashkent in order to enhance their trade potential.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $277.444 million from January through June 2023, an increase of 10.6 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($250.802 million).

Exports from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan reached $113.914 million in the first half of 2023, an increase of 14.7 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

The country's imports from Uzbekistan totaled $163.526 million, which is an increase of 8 percent year-on-year.
