BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 18. A total of 7.4 tons of gold were exported by Kyrgyzstan from January through July 2023, which is a drastic increase of 115 times compared to the same moths of 2022 (64.4 kilograms of gold), Trend reports.
Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan indicates that the monthly export volume amounted to near 2.6 tons in July 2023, increasing by 1.5 times compared to June 2023.
Furthermore, the export value showed an even more remarkable surge, reaching $463.5 million from January through July 2023, a rise of 760 times compared to the same period in 2022 ($609,600).
The primary share of the precious metal was exported to Switzerland - 5.9 tons for $374.9 million. In addition, Kyrgyzstan exported 983.3 kilograms of gold valued at $60 million to Hong Kong and 450.6 kilograms worth $28.5 million to the UAE.
In 2022, the entire gold export volume (64.4 kilograms) for the first seven months of the year went to Türkiye, but no export supplies were made to that country in 2023.
