Inflow of FDI from Belarus to Kyrgyzstan surges

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 21. Foreign direct investments from Belarus to Kyrgyzstan from January through June 2023 amounted to $1.612 million, accounting for 0.4 percent of the total foreign investment inflow into the country, Trend reports.

Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan shows that this figure is nearly 6.9 times higher than in the corresponding period of 2022. It even exceeded the total for the entire year of 2022 ($748,600) by 2.1 times.

In total, Kyrgyzstan received $132.227 million in direct investments from CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries, which is a decrease of 2 percent year-on-year. This accounted for 30.8 percent of the overall foreign direct investment inflow into Kyrgyzstan.

In terms of investment from CIS countries, more investments were sent from Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan than from Belarus.

The inflow of foreign direct investments into Kyrgyzstan amounted to $429 million from January through June 2023, which is a 31.7-percent decrease compared to the same period in 2022.

Kyrgyzstan received foreign direct investments totaling $1.202 billion in 2022, which is 19 percent more than in 2021. Out of this amount, $959.816 million came from non-CIS countries, and $242.782 million came from CIS countries.
