BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 28. Kyrgyzstan exported 520,254 tons of brown coal (lignite) to Uzbekistan from January through July 2023, which is a 67 percent year-on-year increase, Trend reports.
Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan shows that the total value of these exports reached $17.124 million, up by 88 percent compared to the same period in 2022. Throughout the seven months, Uzbekistan stood out as the primary importer of brown coal from Kyrgyzstan.
Additionally, Kyrgyzstan exported 10,836 tons of brown coal to China, valued at $357,600, and 22 tons were sent to Poland, amounting to $3,000 in value.
In total, Kyrgyzstan's brown coal exports for the period from January through July 2023 amounted to 531,113 tons, which is a year-on-year increase of 60.3 percent. The total value of these exports also saw a significant rise, growing by 78 percent year-on-year to reach $17.484 million.
A total of 1.6 million tons of lignite were produced in Kyrgyzstan from January through August 2023, which is a 5.1 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022 (1.523 million tons).
