Kyrgyzstan notes rise in clothing production value

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 28. The production value of textiles, clothing, footwear, and leather goods in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 9.43 billion soms ($106 million) from January through August 2023, Trend reports.

Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan reveals that this figure increased by 69 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

The production volume for these goods increased by 44 percent year-on-year during these eight months, with growth observed in all categories. The most significant increase was recorded in clothing production, which saw a volume rise of 69.2 percent.

The value of clothing production reached 7.4 billion soms ($83 million), which is a 94 percent increase compared to 3.8 billion soms ($42 million) recorded in the same period in 2022.

The total value of industrial production in Kyrgyzstan for the period from January through August 2023 amounted to approximately 289 billion soms ($3.2 billion), which is a 0.3-percent year-on-year increase.
