Cargo transportation in Kyrgyzstan increases

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 3. The volume of cargo transported by all types of transport in Kyrgyzstan reached 30.224 million tons from January through August 2023, which is an increase of 3.1 million tons, or 11.5 percent, compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan reveals that the highest volume of cargo, totaling 9.314 million tons, was transported in the Talas region, followed by 8.896 million tons in the city of Bishkek, and 5.441 million tons in the Chuy region.

The majority of cargo transportation (over 61 percent) was carried out by individual entrepreneurs.

In August of this year, cargo transportation increased by 0.5 million tons, or 13.6 percent, year-on-year, and it rose by 1.9 percent compared to July 2023.

Overall, the cargo turnover in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 1.793 billion tonne-kilometres from January through August 2023, which is 9.5 percent higher than in the same period of 2022.

However, in August of this year, the cargo turnover decreased by 0.4 percent compared to August 2022, and it declined by 8 percent compared to the previous month.
