Kyrgyzstan's oil product import from Uzbekistan drops in volume, jumps in value

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 28. Kyrgyzstan imported a total of 4,770 tons of oil products valued at $3.703 million from Uzbekistan from January through August 2023, Trend reports.

Data from the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan reveals a 14.3-percent decrease in the volume of these imports compared to the same period in 2022 when it amounted to 5,565 tons.

However, the value of the imports increased by 3.1 percent, rising from $3.591 million in the corresponding months of 2022.

During this reporting period, Uzbekistan emerged as the third-largest supplier of oil products to Kyrgyzstan. Russia maintained the top position by exporting 303,358 tons valued at $221.246 million, while Kazakhstan held the second-largest supplier position with 28,153 tons of oil products valued at $15.195 million.

In total, Kyrgyzstan imported 347,079 tons of oil products from January through August 2023, which is a decline of 33 percent compared to the same period in 2022 (517,639 tons).

The value of these imported products amounted to $267.386 million, a drop of 29 percent compared to $373.659 million recorded from January through August 2022.

Kyrgyzstan’s imports from Uzbekistan reached $237.481 million from January through August 2023, which is 6 percent less than in the same period of 2022 ($224.149 million).
