Kyrgyzstan records decrease in cabbage imports from Uzbekistan

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 29. Kyrgyzstan imported 6,253 tons of cabbage from Uzbekistan from January through September 2023, which is a 14-percent decrease compared to the same period in 2022 (7,253 tons), Trend reports.

Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan indicates that the value of these imports totaled $1.521 million, dropping by 10 percent compared to the same period in 2022, which saw imports valued at $1.696 million.

During this reporting months, Uzbekistan remained the primary supplier of cabbage to Kyrgyzstan. Additionally, Kyrgyzstan imported cabbage from China (210 tons), Kazakhstan (133 tons), Iran (44 tons), and Afghanistan (10 tons).

Overall, Kyrgyzstan imported a total of 6,651 tons of cabbage from January through September 2023, which is a 14-percent decrease compared to the corresponding period in 2022. The value of these imports decreased by 7 percent year-on-year, amounting to $1.701 million.

Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan reached $480.004 million from January through September 2023, making up 4.4 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s overall trade. The value of trade rose by 14 percent year-on-year.

Kyrgyzstan’s exports to Uzbekistan during the same period totaled $198.947 million, increasing 25.2 percent compared to the same period in 2022. Kyrgyzstan's imports from Uzbekistan stood at $281.056 million from January through September 2023, reflecting a 7 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022,
