BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 20. The joint plant between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan for the production of 12 car models is set to be launched in 2024, said Daniyar Imanaliev, the Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, during a press conference with Kyrgyz media, Trend reports.

"At present, preparations are underway to commission an automobile assembly plant. This project is in collaboration with 'Uzavtosanoat.' I believe that next year it will be operational. Construction and commissioning works are nearing completion," he said.

The Minister highlighted that the project is financed by the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund. The partnership agreement for organizing the production of automotive and commercial vehicles in Kyrgyzstan was signed during the state visit of Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kyrgyzstan on January 27.

As per the plan, the project will be implemented in three stages. The initial three years will see the production of 10,000 automobiles and commercial vehicles, employing 500 individuals.

The second phase will involve the production of auto components, scaling up capacity to 20,000 automobiles and commercial vehicles with an employment of 1,000 workers.

Finally, the production volume will increase to 30,000 automobiles and commercial vehicles, creating jobs for 2,000 employees at the enterprise.
