BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 29. There were 6,568 Mastercard cards in circulation in Kyrgyzstan's Chuy region, as of the end of September 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan show a 12.4% rise over the 5,840 cards issued at the end of September last year.
In Kyrgyzstan, the Chuy area has the second-highest number of Mastercard cards in circulation, trailing only Bishkek, which has nearly half of all Mastercard cards in the country, totaling 29,880 cards.
The number of Mastercard payment cards in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 52,573 as of September 30, 2023, which is a 13-percent drop from the same date in 2022 when there were 60,932 cards.
By the end of the third quarter of 2023, the total number of cards in circulation in Kyrgyzstan’s Chuy region reached 474,843, accounting for 7.5 percent of the total amount of cards in circulation. The figure rose by 26 percent, compared to 375,862 cards during the same period the previous year.
The total number of bank cards in circulation in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 6.344 million cards as of the reporting date, which is a 36-percent increase compared to the end of September 2022.
