BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 8. Kyrgyzstan imported 12,068 passenger cars from Russia from January through October 2023, which is 2.1 times higher than in the same period of 2022 (5,615 cars), Trend reports.
Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee indicates that the value of these imports amounted to $117.010 million, which is a 1.5-times increase year-on-year ($77.616 million from January through October 2022).
During the January through October 2023 period, Russia ranked fourth in the ranking of countries supplying passenger cars to Kyrgyzstan.
The largest number of passenger cars imported to Kyrgyzstan came from China—44,720 cars valued at $688.718 million. South Korea secured the second position with 42,033 cars amounting to $352.884 million, while the US held the third place in terms of imported cars with 16,275 cars for $173.802 million.
In total, Kyrgyzstan imported 143,829 passenger cars, with an overall value surpassing $1.972 billion from January through October 2023. The import volume increased by 4.9 times compared to the same period in 2022, while the value rose by 5.7 times year-on-year.
Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover with Russia reached $2.206 billion from January through October 2023, which is a decrease of 25 percent compared to the ten months of 2022 ($2.945 billion).
Kyrgyzstan’s exports to Russia during this period equaled $593.348 million, which is a decline of 35 percent compared to the corresponding months of 2022 ($912.659 million). Russia’s share in Kyrgyzstan’s exports was 24.3 percent.
The country’s imports from Russia totaled $1.613 billion, which is 20.6 percent less than the imports during January through October 2022 ($2.032 billion). It accounted for 16.4 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total imports.
