BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 16. Construction of a bypass road around the city of Uzgen has commenced in the Osh region of Kyrgyzstan, Talantbek Imanov, the DIrector of the National Investment Agency under the President of Kyrgyzstan, said,Trend reports.

He noted that the project involves the construction of a 14 km bypass road and the building of three new bridges measuring 206, 75, and 12 linear meters, respectively. The total cost of the construction of the project amounts to over $29.4 million

According to Imanov, the construction, operation, and maintenance will be carried out by a private partner. Upon the expiration of the public-private partnership agreement, the road will be transferred to the management of a government partner.

In December 2023, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarovsigned a decree to initiate the construction of a bypass road around the city of Uzgen.

The Bishkek – Osh highway is experiencing substantial congestion, especially in the section that cuts through Uzgen. This has prompted the need to construct a bypass road around the city of Uzgen.
