BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 17. Wheat harvest in Kyrgyzstan decreased by 25.7 percent in 2023 compared to 2022, Trend reports.
The State Statistics Committee of Kyrgyzstan associates this with abnormally high temperatures during the summer of 2023. Barley harvest also decreased by 29.2 percent.
On the other hand, there was a significant increase in the sugar beet harvest by 32.7 percent compared to 2022, tobacco by 19.2 percent, corn for grain by 9.2 percent, vegetables by 4.6 percent, melons by 4.2 percent, fruits and berries by 1.2 percent.
Additionally, a total of 1.6 million tons of grain (excluding leguminous crops, rice, and buckwheat) were threshed in Kyrgyzstan by the end of 2023, which is 13 percent less than in 2022.
The reduction in volumes of threshed grain is attributed to a 14.6 percent decline in the yield of these cereal crops compared to 2022.
