Kyrgyzstan ramps up passenger car imports from US

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 17. Kyrgyzstan imported 11,953 passenger cars from the US in 2023, which is 2.2 times more than in 2022 (5,378 passenger cars), Trend reports.

Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee shows that the import value reached $209.619 million last year, which is a 3-times increase compared to $68.496 million in 2022.

In overall car imports to Kyrgyzstan, China led with 79,131 cars worth $1.197 billion, followed by South Korea with 50,397 cars valued at $434.868 million. Russia completes the top three leaders, exporting 14,437 passenger cars to Kyrgyzstan, for $143.084 million.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan imported 184,789 passenger cars in 2023, which is an increase of 4.4 times compared to 2022 (41,241 cars). The total value of imports reached $2.766 billion, representing a 5.1 times increase from $538.852 million in 2022.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $15.66 billion in 2023, which is a 29.9 percent increase compared to 2022. The country's exports totaled $3.308 billion, rising by 46.8 percent year-on-year. Imports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $12.352 billion, which is 26 percent higher than in 2022.
