Kyrgyzstan increases imports of passenger cars from Lithuania

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 20. Kyrgyzstan imported 3,132 passenger cars from Lithuania in 2023, which is a 28.2 percent increase compared to 2022 (2,444 cars), Trend reports.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the value of these imports amounted to $46.872 million, increasing by 37.2 percent increase compared to $34.176 million in 2022.

Among countries exporting cars to Kyrgyzstan, China took the lead with 79,131 cars valued at $1.197 billion, trailed by South Korea with 50,397 cars worth $434.868 million. Russia secured the third spot among the leading exporters, supplying 14,437 passenger cars to Kyrgyzstan, totaling $143.084 million in value.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan reported a surge in its import of passenger cars in 2023, with a total of 184,789 cars imported. The figure increased by 4.4 times compared to the 41,241 cars imported in 2022. Additionally, the total value of these imports reached $2.766 billion in 2023, which is 5.1 times rise compared to $538.852 million recorded in 2022.

Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $15.660 billion in 2023, which is a 29.9 percent increase compared to 2022 ($12.057 billion). The country's exports totaled $3.308 billion, rising by 46.8 percent year-on-year ($2.254 billion in 2022). Imports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $12.352 billion, which is 26 percent higher than $9.803 billion in 2022.
