BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 12. Plans are underway in Kyrgyzstan to repair 363 pump units and replace 26 pump units this year for land irrigation, Trend reports.
According to Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Water Resources,
Agriculture, and Processing Industry, current work involves
repairing 15 pumping stations and replacing two pump units.
Currently, the country has 120 pumping stations and 365 pump units
installed. Kyrgyzstan is currently preparing its irrigation system
for the forthcoming season.
According to the government, Kyrgyzstan has over one million
hectares of irrigated land, with pumping stations providing water
to more than 50,000 hectares.
In 2023, 365 pump units were repaired, with 26 of them replaced. In
2022, 365 pump units were repaired, with 61 of them replaced.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the combined gross output of agriculture, forestry, and fishing in Kyrgyzstan reached 11.780 billion soms ($131.7 million) in January 2024, which is a 1.4-percent increase compared to January 2023.
