Kyrgyzstan boosts imports of oil products from Kazakhstan

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 18. Kyrgyzstan imported 16,231 tons of oil products from Kazakhstan in January 2024, which is 11.9 times more than the 1,355 tons imported in January 2023, Trend reports.

Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee indicates that the value of these imports reached $11.562 million, which is 8.3 times higher than the $1.390 million recorded in January 2023.

Among the countries from which Kyrgyzstan bought oil products, Kazakhstan ranked second. Russia was the largest supplier of oil products to Kyrgyzstan in January 2024, providing 52,222 tons for $37.585 million.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan imported 70,500 tons of oil products in January 2024, which is a 3.9-fold increase compared to January 2023's 17,883 tons. The value of these imports amounted to $52.748 million, a 2.9-fold increase compared to the same month in 2023 ($17.709 million).

Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover with Kazakhstan amounted to $76.872 million in January 2024, which is 24.4 percent less than the previous year's figure of $101.685 million in January 2023.

The country's exports to Kazakhstan reached $17.596 million in the first month of 2024, marking a 52.5 percent decrease compared to January 2023's $37.057 million. Imports from Kazakhstan totaled $59.275 million, which is an 8.3 percent decline compared to January of the previous year, which stood at $64.628 million.
