Money transfers by individuals from Kyrgyzstan drop

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 19. Individuals sent $56.4 million from Kyrgyzstan via international money transfer systems in January 2024, which is a 2 percent, or $58 million, decrease compared to the same month in 2023, Trend reports.

According to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, $53.5 million was sent to CIS countries. Out of this, $52.8 million went to Russia, $300,000 to Kazakhstan, and $300,000 to other CIS countries.

Additionally, $2.9 million was sent from Kyrgyzstan to non-CIS countries in January 2024, with $2.7 million sent to Türkiye and $200,000 to other countries.

Meanwhile, the inflow of money transfers to Kyrgyzstan by individuals through international money transfer systems amounted to $259 million in January 2024. The net inflow amounted to $202.7 million.

In total, for the previous year, $561.2 million was transferred from Kyrgyzstan to other countries, while transfers into Kyrgyzstan amounted to $2.706 billion. The net inflow was $2.144 billion.
