BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 9. Kyrgyzstan exported 5,282 tons of potatoes in January 2024, which is a 3.4-times increase compared to the same month in 2023 (1,527 tons), Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the value of these exports reached $610,500, which is a 9-percent increase from the $560,000 recorded in January 2023.
In January 2024, Kyrgyzstan solely exported potatoes to Uzbekistan, whereas in the previous January, the bulk of exports, totaling 1,354 tons valued at $514,900, were directed to Kazakhstan.
Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan's trade with Uzbekistan totaled $43.764 million in January 2024, which is a 39-percent rise compared to the same month in 2023 ($31.475 million).
Exports to Uzbekistan amounted to $16.970 million in January 2024, an increase of 32.9 percent from the $12.768 million recorded in January 2023. Imports reached $26.793 million, which is an increase of 43.2 percent compared to $18.707 million in January 2023.
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover totaled $1.168 billion in January 2024, which is a 36.8-percent increase compared to January 2023. Exports to Uzbekistan amounted to $181.3 million, a 46.6-percent increase year-on-year. Imports increased by 35.1 percent, reaching $987.5 million.
