BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, June 14. The route of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway will extend from Chinese Kashgar through Kyrgyz Torugart, Makmal, Jalal-Abad to Uzbek Andijan, Trend reports.

This information is detailed in a legislative proposal aimed at ratifying the agreement between the governments of China, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, and the government of Uzbekistan for collaboration in advancing the joint railway project signed on June 6, 2024. This proposal has been submitted to the Kyrgyzstan Cabinet of Ministers for parliamentary review.

According to the document, a joint project company will be established to oversee the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. The entities designated for construction include China Railway International under the Chinese Railways state corporation, Kyrgyz Railways state enterprise, and Uzbekistan Railways.

This project is included in the National Development Program of Kyrgyzstan until 2026. The new railway corridor will serve as a southern branch of the Eurasian continental bridge, providing access to markets in Southeast and West Asia, as well as countries in the Middle East.

This route will facilitate the transportation of goods from China to Kyrgyzstan, Central Asian countries, the Middle East, and Türkiye and further into the EU. The project aims to enhance competitiveness in the international transit transport market by reducing distance and delivery times for cargo.
