BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 5. Kyrgyzstan will implement three major infrastructure tourism projects in the near future, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov announced at a meeting of the board of the Presidential Administration, Trend reports.
Japarov revealed that one of these projects is the construction of Kyrgyzstan’s own Courchevel resort, which has already begun.
"French company S3V, one of the original operators of the world-renowned Courchevel resort, is developing the Three Peaks ski cluster in Kyrgyzstan. The project will feature 200 kilometers of ski slopes, operate year-round, and accommodate up to 850,000 tourists annually. This will be the largest resort in Central Asia," Japarov said.
He also noted that work is underway on the Baytik Resort cluster, and discussions are ongoing with Uzbekistan about jointly developing the Chatkal Resort ski cluster.
The tourism sector is a major driver of economic development in Kyrgyzstan, with a strong focus on mountain and adventure tourism, alongside historical, cultural, and recreational tourism. In 2023, Kyrgyzstan welcomed 8.557 million tourists.
