BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 27. Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Agriculture has proposed lifting the temporary ban on importing chicken eggs, according to a draft decree now open for public discussion, Trend reports.

The ministry cited improvements in domestic production as a key reason for the proposed change. Local producers have stabilized and increased their output since the ban was implemented, and they now claim to be ready to compete with imported eggs in terms of both volume and pricing.

The six month ban, which has been in effect since June 5, 2024, was aimed at supporting local producers and addressing supply issues.

According to the country’s Statistical Committee, more than 460.184 million eggs were produced in Kyrgyzstan from January through July 2024, which is 10.5 increase year-on-year.
