BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 16. The modernization of the Kyrgyz Petroleum Company's refinery is set to be completed by the end of 2027, Trend reports via the company.

According to the provided information, the work is proceeding on schedule without delays. In 2024, the foundation for a storage tank capable of holding 11 types of oil products was completed. The project is being carried out by SPEC Engineering, founded and headquartered in the US.

The modernization efforts, which began on September 28, 2024, will enable the refinery to produce RON-92 and RON-95 gasoline, as well as diesel fuel, in compliance with international standards.

The total cost of the modernization is $409 million. Of this, $200 million has been provided by SPEC Engineering. The government has allocated $109 million, and Kyrgyzneftegaz, a state-owned enterprise, has provided $100 million.

The Kyrgyz Petroleum Company refinery is designed to process 500,000 tons of crude oil annually, along with smaller quantities of alternative feedstocks such as gas condensate, distillates, and off-spec oil products. The primary partner in this project is the Kyrgyzneftegaz.

SPEC Engineering has extensive experience building refineries in Iraq, Iran, several African countries, and various US states.
