BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 17. Kyrgyzstan sent about 17.792 tons of gold packing in 2024, which is 2.4 tons, or 12 percent less than the previous year, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the value of these exports amounted to $1.406 billion, which is $122 million, or 9.5 percent more than in 2023.
Last year, Kyrgyzstan exported gold to the following destinations:
- To the UK— 14.958 tons worth $1.212 billion
- To Hong Kong — over 1.8 tons worth $129.413 million
- To Switzerland — about 971.468 kg worth $63.538 million
- To the UAE — 13.545 kg worth $881,900.
Gold made up almost 37 percent of Kyrgyzstan's export pie in 2024.
The total trade turnover of Kyrgyzstan amounted to $16.041 billion last year, which increased by 0.9 percent compared to 2023. Exports reached $3.827 billion, increasing by 13.1 percent compared to the previous year. However, imports decreased by 2.4 percent, totaling $12.214 billion.
The composition of the trade turnover reveals that the nation's exports constituted 23.9 percent, whereas imports represented a substantial 76.1 percent.
