Tajik border guards seize 240 kg of drugs

( RIA Novosti ) - A joint operation between Central Asian and Russian border guards netted 238 kg of drugs, a source in the Tajik border guards' press service said Monday.

Officers from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Russia and Uzbekistan participated in the special operation September 24-29, which was aimed at eliminating arms and drugs trafficking from neighboring Afghanistan, as well as preventing illegal immigrants and terrorists from crossing the border.

During the operation a total of 25 suspects were detained, with officers being involved in two shootouts with armed traffickers.
