Presidents Dmitry Medvedev of Russia and Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan have signed a joint statement following talks in the Tajik capital Dushanbe, the Mayak radio station reported today.
The document stipulates that the two countries will continue expanding military and technical cooperation in order to ensure national and regional security, reported RBC.
According to the agreement, Russia's military base 201 in Tajikistan is an important factor providing security and stability in Central Asia. Both parties have confirmed that they are ready to ensure proper conditions for the base to function effectively, the document reads.
