Tajikistan's Foreign Minister discussed with its Afghan counterpart the issues of regional cooperation and aspects of the interaction between the two countries in regional and international organizations, CA-NEW reported referring to the Tajik Foreign Ministry.
Tajik Foreign Minister Khamrokhon Zarifi noted the importance of projects that will ensure significant help in reviving the economy of Afghanistan, particularly in hydropower and communications sphere.
"Zarifi stressed the importance of the forthcoming V conference of regional economic cooperation on Afghanistan (RECCA), which will be held in Dushanbe in March 2012," a statement of the Foreign Ministry said .
The issue of Istanbul conference on Afghanistan "Security and Cooperation in the heart of Asia", which will be held on Wednesday, and a similar conference to be held in early December in Bonn were also touched upon at the meeting.
The Afghan Foreign Minister emphasized the relevance of the initiative to create a "New Silk Road"."This project will enable not only the region, but also other states to strengthen trade and economic cooperation among themselves," added the Foreign Ministry.
Zarifi also presented Deputy Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Nizomiddin Zohidov, who last week was appointed as special representative for Afghanistan.
This appointment demonstrates the interest of the Republic "to take an active part in solving the Afghan problem", added Zarifi.
