BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 31. President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi to discuss issues of expanding bilateral cooperation between the two countries, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the President of Tajikistan.
The importance of developing infrastructure and connecting the two countries' transportation networks was emphasized in order to boost trade and economic cooperation and increase commercial turnover, and humanitarian interactions.
“The Tajik side welcomes the joint efforts to build land roads connecting the two countries,” the President of Tajikistan said.
Rahmon expressed interest in access to the seaports of Iran, as well as the effective use of the possibilities of the ports of Chabahar and port of Bandar Abbas for the transportation of goods and products.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the mutually beneficial cooperation. Tajikistan's support for Iran's full membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was recognized as evidence of mutually beneficial bilateral relations between the two countries in the international arena.
