Tajikistan, Russia talk creation of joint industrial venture

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 4. The Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin, and his Russian college, Maxim Reshetnikov, discussed the creation of new joint industrial ventures including in the territory of free economic zones of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan informs, Trend reports via Russian media.

The meeting between the ministers took place on February 3, in Tajikistan’s Dushanbe. Additionally, the sides also discussed the following matters: investment attraction from Russia, preparation work for an upcoming visit of the Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin to Dushanbe, in March, and for a high-level Tajikistan-Russia forum.

According to the Ministry, the parties agreed to undertake measures to boost and diversify exports of Tajik production to Russia.

Russia is the main trade partner of Tajikistan and is ranked first amongst Tajikistan’s trade turnover partners in 2022 making 22.9 percent of Tajik foreign trade, followed by Kazakhstan (19.7 percent).

In 2022 trade turnover between both countries has reached more than $1.674 billion which is an increase of $321 billion (23.7 percent) compared to 2021.

The value of Tajikistan foreign trade turnover amounted to more than $7.3 billion, which is a 15 percent increase in comparison with 2021.
