Industrial production in Tajikistan’s Sughd Region increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 4. In 2022, the value of industrial production in the Sughd Region of Tajikistan has reached 24 billion somni (more than $2 billion), which is an increase of almost 18 percent compared to 2021, Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, the Chairman of the Sughd Region, told local journalists, Trend reports via Tajik media.

According to Ahmadzoda, during the period, the main attention was paid to the manufacture of import- and export-oriented products.

In particular, in 2022, the region produced more than 1.2 million tons of cement and extracted 1.8 billion of coal. Some 2,535 tons of yarn and 7.8 million square meters of cotton cloth were produced.

From year to year, Tajikistan has been increasing the manufacture of import-substituting food. In 2022, the Sughd Region manufactured: 5,011 tons of sunflower oil, which is a 22 percent increase compared to 2021; 52, 731 tons of bread and bakery products, and 4,965 tons of macaroni products.

According to the data, an increase was also registered in the manufacture of building materials and other essential products: production of metal pipes has grown up by 34 percent, building concrete – by 25 percent, glassware – by 9 percent, asbestos pipes – by 10 percent, plastic pipes – by 15 percent, plastic profiles – by 57 percent, polypropylene bags – by 26 percent, plastic forms for containers - by 64 percent and toy for children - by 31 percent in comparison with 2021.

In 2022, the value of production of garment enterprises in the region has reached 289 million somoni ($27 million).

The total value of industrial production in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 43 billion somoni ($4.2 billion) in 2022.
