Tajik Sughd Region unveils data on footwear, garment production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 4. Clothing production in Sughd Region of Tajikistan has increased in 2022, Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, Chairman of the Sughd Region, told local journalists, Trend reports with reference to Tajik media.

In 2022, garment enterprises of the region have produced clothing worth 289.3 million somoni ($27 million), which is 37.9 million somoni ($3 million) more than in the previous year.

During the reporting period, the region has produced 969,490 units of school uniforms, which is 10 percent more than in 2021.

According to the data, 16 new clothing enterprises and workshops were built, and 323 new work positions created.

Moreover, the volume of footwear production in Sughd Region has amounted to 372,500 pairs in 2022, which is an increase of 55,600 pairs compared to the previous year. And 10 shoe enterprises and workshops have been put into operation.

According to the information, it is planned to build more than 700 new industrial enterprises and workshops and create more than 14,000 new work places till 2026.

Last year, 151 new enterprises and workshops with 2,820 work places have started operating in the Sughd Region.

In 2022, the value of industrial production in Sughd Regon of Tajikistan has totaled 24 billion somni (more than $2 billion), increasing by almost 18 percent compared to 2021.
