BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 13. Russian entrepreneurs plan to invest in cotton-growing farms of Tajikistan’s Sughd Region, the Chairman of the Sughd region told reporters, Trend reports via Tajik media.
The agreement was achieved in the frame of the working visit of the delegation of the Tajik Sughd region to Russia, during which, Tajik representatives met with the management of the Russian "BTC Group".
In particular, the Russian "BTC Group" plans to invest in cotton-growing farms in the Spitamen District of the Sughd region of the country, to expand the activities of the Spitamen Textile enterprise and provide employment.
According to the chairman, the Russian side’s interest in this region is induced by a significant amount of cotton, produced in the Spitamen District per year (150,000 tons). As he pointed out, there are many opportunities for expanding cooperation.

Notably, the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan and "BTC Group" already have an agreement, according to which, "BTC Group" invested in the cotton-farming in the Khalton region of the country, and launched the production of cotton clothes in Tajikistan’s capital – Dushanbe.
