Prices for food products in Tajikistan increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19. Consumer prices for food products in Tajikistan rose by 1.7 percent in March 2023 compared to the previous month, according to the Statistical Agency of Tajikistan, Trend reports via Tajik media.

The highest growth in March this year was registered in the prices of vegetables (by 7.4 percent), and fruits (by 7.8 percent), the statistics said.

In particular, prices for carrots rose by almost 20 percent, cabbage - by 10 percent, cucumbers by 8.4 percent, tomatoes - by 3.6 percent, grapes - by 33 percent, and apples - by 10 percent.

Meanwhile, food products rose in price by 0.8 percent in February this year, compared to January.

At the same time, the rise in prices for non-food products in March this year slowed down by 4 times compared to the previous month - to 0.2 percent from 0.8 percent in February.

Tariffs for paid services to the population decreased by 0.2 percent in March 2023, while there was an increase in tariffs’ prices in February.

In total, the rise in consumer prices in Tajikistan was at the level of 1.8 percent in March 2023.

Meanwhile, according to the National Bank of Tajikistan, the inflation rate in the country is estimated at 0.9 percent in March 2023, and the annual inflation rate is at a level of 3.6 percent.
