BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. Foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan from January through April 2023 has registered a decrease compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.
As statistical data shows, the foreign trade turnover for the first four months of this year reached over $2.1 billion, witnessing a decline of $67.2 million compared to the same period in 2022.
The decrease in trade turnover can be primarily attributed to a reduction in the export of Tajik products abroad, which experienced a significant drop of 33.2 percent or $214 million. The total value of exported goods from January to April amounted to $430.5 million.
The largest decrease was recorded in the export of products of animal and vegetable origin, in particular cotton, mineral products, including electricity, non-precious metals (aluminum) and products made from them.
Meanwhile, imports showed a relatively modest decline of 9.5 percent (equivalent to $146.6 million). The total value of imported goods into the country during this period was approximately $1.7 billion.
During the period under review, the decline in the imports of chemical industry products, flour, fats and oils was more significant.
Tajikistan traded with 102 countries in from January through April 2023, which is 4 countries more than was registered in March 2023.
