Tajikistan's Amonatbank, China Development Bank to sign credit agreements worth $34M

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 24. Amonatbank the State Savings Bank of Tajikistan and China Development Bank (CDB) plan to sign two credit agreements, Trend reports.

There will be one credit agreement valued at $20 million and another at $14.1 million.

The document outlining these agreements was signed between the banks during the state visit of Tajikistan's President, Emomali Rahmon, to China, which took place from May 16 to 20.

The cooperation between Amonatbank and CDB dates back to 2008, the year when Amonatbank joined the Interbank Consortium of SCO.

Over these years, Amonatbank and CDB have signed more than 8 credit agreements with various funds for the development of small and medium-sized businesses and a memorandum of understanding on the retraining of bank employees in prestigious universities in China.

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon visited China to attend the China - Central Asia summit on May 18-19. The summit hosted the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. During his visit, the Tajik president also met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on May 18.
