Tajikistan's Sughd region shares data on ores, concentrates exports

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 17. A total of 149,854 tons of ores and concentrates were exported from Tajikistan’s Sughd region in the northwest of the country from January through June 2023, Trend reports.

According to the authorities of the region, the value of these exports amounted to $235.8 million.

Additionally, 25,348 tons of cement were exported, with a value of $8.1 million, and 22,407 tons of cotton fiber worth $40.2 million.

A total foreign trade turnover of the region from January through June 2023 reached $1.35 billion. Imports accounted for $926.2 million, while exports amounted to $424.6 million.

Meanwhile, the value of foreign trade turnover of Sughd region reached $3.1 billion in 2022. The region exported goods worth $1 billion, including metals, cotton, agricultural products, and clothing. At the same time, the region’s imports reached nearly $2.1 billion.

Tajikistan's Sughd region is famous for its well-developed mining industry (especially mining of non-ferrous and rare metals).

As the Statistical Agency of Tajikistan reported, the country’s foreign trade turnover reached $2.8 billion from January through May 2023, increasing 3.9 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2022. During this period, Tajikistan engaged in trade with 104 countries worldwide.
