Petrol prices in Tajikistan's retail markets drop

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 28. Average petrol prices in retail markets in Tajikistan from July 10 through July 16 increased by 1 percent compared to the preceding week, Trend reports.

According to the World Food Programme (WFP), the average cost for a liter of gasoline during this period was 9.3 somoni ($0.84), which is a 17 percent decrease compared to the same timeframe in 2022.

Among the cities in Tajikistan, Istaravshan recorded the lowest gasoline price at 8.3 somoni ($0.75) per liter. This price represented a 25 percent decrease compared to the same time last year.

On the other hand, the capital city of Dushanbe maintained a stable gasoline price of 8.8 somoni ($0.79) per liter, remaining unchanged from the previous week. However, when compared to the corresponding data in 2022, Dushanbe's gasoline price declined by 19 percent.

In terms of other fuel types, average diesel and LPG prices in Tajikistan increased by 1 to 4 percent compared to the previous week.

WFP Tajikistan, in partnership with the Neksigol Mushovir advisory organization, has been monitoring commodity prices in markets across the country. The price data is collected through the network of field enumerators. For each commodity, multiple traders are interviewed, and the average prices are recorded.
