DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 26. The main share of exports from Kazakhstan to Tajikistan during the first half of 2023 fell on wheat, with an export value of $104.4 million, accounting for 27 percent of Kazakhstan's exports to Tajikistan, Trend reports.
According to the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan, the next highest export volumes were liquefied propane ($39.3 million), iron or non-alloy steel bars ($39 million), aluminum oxide ($23.4 million), and sunflower oil ($18.9 million).
During the period under review, the structure of exports from Kazakhstan has undergone no significant changes. With the exception of a significant increase in the export (and re-export) of smartphones from 10,500 to 68,800 units and washing machines from 9,500 to 31,500 units.
Meanwhile, there was a decrease in the volume of exports of food blends from $12.2 million in January–June 2022 to $345,000 this year and wheat flour from $7.2 million to $4.9 million. The export of alloy-based copper and zinc pipes has completely ceased, while in the first half of 2022 they were valued at $1.2 million.
Overall, the volume of exports from Kazakhstan to Tajikistan amounted to $387.2 million from January through June 2023, an increase of 6.9 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($362.1 million).
Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan in the first half of 2023 amounted to $557.4 million, decreasing 9.7 percent compared to the same months of 2022, when it was $617.2 million.
