DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 4. The average price of petrol in the retail markets of Tajikistan amounted to 10.4 somoni ($0.94) per liter as of August 21, 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the World Food Programme (WFP) indicates that prices have decreased by seven percent compared to the same period in 2022. Within a week, however, the prices increased by three percent.
The highest price of 12.7 somoni ($1.15) for a liter of petrol was recorded in the Murgab district, with a year-on-year decrease of 6 percent. The lowest prices across the country were recorded in the Kushoniyon district and Qubodiyon town, at 9.8 somoni ($0.89).
In Dushanbe, the price of a liter of petrol was 10 somoni ($0.9), marking a sizable percent decrease year-on-year.
WFP Tajikistan, in partnership with the Neksigol Mushovir advisory organization, has been monitoring commodity prices in markets across the country. Price data is collected through a network of field enumerators. For each commodity, multiple traders are interviewed, and average prices are recorded.
