DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 17. The industrial production in Tajikistan’s Sughd region reached 18.158 billion somoni ($1.6 billion) from January through September 2023, which is a 7.5 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year, Trend reports.
In the region's food industry, 219,000 tons of flour were produced during the reviewed period, which is a 21.3 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022.
However, the production of vegetable oil decreased by 4.3 percent, totaling 2,999 tons. Bread and bakery products amounted to 27,542 tons, marking a 15 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2022.
Additionally, the production of canned goods saw a year-on-year increase of 23.6 percent, while beverages grew by 31.8 percent.
According to the Regional Statistical Office, a total of 982,000 tons of cement were produced in Sughd from January through September 2023, decreasing by 2.3 percent year-on-year.
Furthermore, the external trade turnover of the region amounted to $2.043 billion from January through September 2023.
As of the beginning of September 2023, the region was home to 1,023 operating enterprises, and the number of main industrial products reached 248 different types.
