DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 21. The value of production in the manufacturing sector of Tajikistan amounted to 18.895 billion somoni ($1.724 billion) from January through September 2023, which is a 12 percent year-on-year increase, Trend reports.
Data from the country's National Statistics Agency reveals that food products, including beverages and tobacco, accounted for 7.532 billion somoni ($687.615 million), while textile and sewing production totaled 2.552 billion somoni ($232.9 million).
The production of wood and paper products, along with various printing activities, reached 364.2 million somoni ($33.2 million). Additionally, the production of petroleum products stood at 65.7 million somoni ($5.9 million), while chemical manufacturing recorded 398 million somoni ($36.3 million).
Other non-metallic mineral products were valued at 2.569 billion somoni ($234.5 million). Furthermore, metallurgy and the production of finished metal goods contributed 4.736 billion somoni ($432.3 million) to the overall manufacturing volume.
Overall, the value of industrial production in Tajikistan increased by 8.2 percent from January through September 2023, reaching a total of 32.281 billion somoni ($2.9 billion).
The main drivers of this production growth were a 3.6-percent increase in the mining industry, a 12-percent rise in manufacturing, and a 12.5-percent growth in the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning sectors.
