DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 26. Tajikistan's Prime Minister, Kokhir Rasulzoda, suggested speeding up the efforts to launch six new road routes for car transportation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Trend reports.
He made this statement, while addressing the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting held in Kyrgyzstan's Bishkek.
"We believe it is necessary to instruct the transportation authorities and the joint commission established under the agreement to create favorable conditions for international road transportation to intensify efforts for the prompt launch of these six international road routes," Rasulzoda said.
He further emphasized that Tajikistan consistently supports the implementation of previously adopted SCO documents in this direction, including the establishment of a unified transportation system and the creation of international logistics centers. He stressed the importance of utilizing the transit potential of all SCO member states.
A document to open six new routes for the transportation of goods from eastern China to Central Asian countries and Russia was signed in Dushanbe in 2014 and came into effect in January 2017. One of these routes is expected to pass through Tajikistan.
The meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government in Bishkek is attended by the Prime Ministers of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the Premier of the State Council of China, the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan, and the Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan.
