Tajikistan reveals area of land dedicated to vegetable planting in greenhouses

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, November 20. Vegetables have been planted across 43.9 hectares of greenhouses in Tajikistan, at the moment, Trend reports.

As per the country's Ministry of Agriculture, this includes 16.2 hectares for tomatoes, 9.3 hectares for cucumbers, and 18.5 hectares for other vegetables and citrus fruits.

The country currently operates 950 greenhouses covering a total area of 166 hectares, a substantial increase from the 101.5 hectares utilized by greenhouses in 2020.

Planting activities in these greenhouses are ongoing at the moment. Many local farms independently produce seeds, while others opt for imported ones.

At the same time, 86,279 hectares of land are currently sown with crops in Tajikistan, while 121,330 hectares have been cultivated at the moment.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture in Tajikistan, the value of agricultural production in the country reached 43.809 billion somoni ($3.9 billion) from January through September 2023, which is an increase of 3.192 billion somoni ($288 million) compared to the same period in the previous year.
